WC Football 2010 - Strategies

Greece

Team Structure - Have one specialist set piece taker, to take corners. Have a superb goalie. Then field nine old, bald headed and burly players having simple names like “Katsouranis”, "Karagounis", "Kyrgiakos" or anything similar.

Strategy - Die hard to get one (and mind it – 'xactly one – no more, no less) penalty corner. Now, our nine 30+ oldies form an arc in the opposite team’s D and thrust out their bald glowing heads in anticipation. The specialist takes the kick and the ball hits at least one of the nine waiting heads. Off the smooth, hard, shiny and reflective surface, the ball deflects and rushes into the post. Greece leads 1-0 and now the 9 players go back and stand in line to form a wall some 10 meters away from their post. The specialist is positioned behind the wall to kick away a rare random ball that crosses the Great Chinese wall.
